Nevada County a new serhas announced a new legal service at the Truckee Library. Beginning on Wednesday, June 28th, Lawyer in the Library will be available at the Truckee Library Workspace, located at 10879 Donner Pass Road.
On the fourth Wednesday of every month, participants can get free legal help from 3:30 to 4:30pm by signing up for an appointment in advance.
Volunteer lawyers will be available after you sign-up for a free 15-minute legal consultation. You can call (530) 582-7846 for an appointment, or you can also stop by the Truckee Library at 10031 Levon Avenue during regular business hours.
This service is designed to help people who cannot afford private legal services. Participants can meet with a local volunteer attorney for criminal, trust, estate or general legal issues. Additional types of services will be added for future dates.
In this one-on-one appointment, lawyers can answer questions on most legal topics. If someone needs legal help, the lawyer refers them to a support agency.
Lawyer in the Library is available at many libraries in California, but this is a new service offered in the Truckee Library. The Lawyer in the Library program is ideal for self-represented litigants in need of general legal guidance.
The volunteer attorneys will coordinate and facilitate access to information, while providing referrals. All appointments are on a first come, first serve basis.
If you have an existing case, you are encouraged to bring all your legal documents to the consultation. Participants are asked to sign up for the next available time slot and be prepared and on time in order to participate.
